Diagnosing and grading heart failure with tomographic

With myocardial scintigraphy the perfusion (blood flow) of the heart can be measured at rest and during exercise by the use of radioactively marked substances. It is thus possible to diagnose poor vascularized areas of the heart without invasive measures such as coronary angiography (cardiac catheterization). In myocardial/heart scintigraphy, the circulation of your heart muscle, or myocardium, is depicted through the use of low level radiation. This examination allows us to detect any dysfunction in circulation at an early stage and optimally monitor existing diseases. Myocardial scintigraphy is a gentle and non-invasive examination method.

A small amount of thallium (radioactive substance) is injected into a vein, and a special camera moves around your heart.

Heart scintigraphy

The myocardial scintigraphy serves the clarification of coronary heart disease (CHD), in particular to clarify the question whether constrictions of coronary vessels have led to a relevant circulatory disorder of the heart muscle or not. With the advent and optimization of nuclear scintigraphy protocols using bone-avid radiotracers, cardiac amyloidosis caused by transthyretin protein (ATTR) can now be diagnosed noninvasively without a costly tissue biopsy. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Myocardial perfusion imaging or scanning (also referred to as MPI or MPS) is a nuclear medicine procedure that illustrates the function of the heart muscle (myocardium). It evaluates many heart conditions, such as coronary artery disease (CAD), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and heart wall motion abnormalities. Myocardial scintigraphy provides images of the heart, allowing a doctor to evaluate blood flow. A cardiologist may request this test as a diagnostic tool or in a patient assessment to determine the response to treatment.

Myocardial perfusion imaging ; … Cardiac MIBG scintigraphy is a sensitive tool for detecting cardiac sympathetic denervation in Parkinson's disease. [(123)I]Metaiodobenzylguanidine ([(123)I]MIBG) cardiac scintigraphy could be helpful to differentiate Parkinson's disease (PD) from multiple system atrophy (MSA), demonstrating that, in PD with autonomic failure but not in MSA, there Myocardial scintigraphy allows the physician to assess myocardial perfusion under stress in the following situations: Coronary heart disease is suspected There is a need to evaluate the hemodynamic impact of areas of stenosis in patients with known coronary heart disease 2018-02-14 Myocardial scintigraphy begins with a stress test in which your circulation is stimulated.
